In today’s world, especially since 9/11 and tragedies like Columbine, teens who are Boy Scouts aren’t ridiculed – instead they are admired for trying to live the Boy Scout morals, values and ethics known worldwide, and for training for emergency situations according to our motto "be prepared."

We are the oldest troop in the town of Parker, started 30 years ago, and are chartered by the Parker United Methodist Church. We meet every Tuesday night and we camp every month and cook all our meals – it’s amazing the meals these guys prepare, from stroganoff to breakfast burritos to fire-alarm chili. Plus, once a Scout learns the necessary outdoor skills, they enjoy

high adventure programs like backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, and winter camping. As Scouts progress, they become leaders in the troop, teaching and guiding our newer Scouts. In the past year, we have awarded the coveted Eagle Rank to 4 outstanding young men. Only about 4% of Scouts earn the rank of Eagle, and it is a distinction they will carry with them for life.

If you are a Troop 16 Scout family, please keep checking this website for new and updated information. If you are a Scout family from another troop, keep up the good work and have a look around our website at what we do here in Troop 16 – feel free to take any of our ideas. If you are interested in Scouting, I encourage you to contact me and to come to a troop meeting and check us out.

Scouting today is full of challenges (backpacking 85 miles in a week), training in important life-skills (first aid), doing things you can’t do anywhere else (living in a snow cave for a weekend), building great friendships (you and your patrol members are like family), and fun (mud fights at the end of a day of canoeing)!! Come check out Scouting and come check out Troop 16.
