Posted by Prescott on April 7, 2009

We have two slots open for this Summer’s High Adventure Trip down the Missouri River.  These are open to current and former Troop 16′ers.  We already have a couple of Alumni on the trip and we’d love to have more.  Details are below;mrhab-1

“Feel the power of the mighty Missouri River at your feet as you navigate your canoe through the waters of the South Dakota and Nebraska border.”
Our major high adventure program for 2009 is a canoe trip tracing portions of the Lewis and Clark expedition, shortly after the birth of our Nation. The trip is a seven day experience, from July 26th to August 1st, 2009. In addition to canoeing, there are plenty of side activities. We will be able to work on the Historical Trails Award and the 50 Miler Award during the adventure.

“This wild and scenic section of the Mighty Mo offers unique programs at every turn. Camp on islands, learn to throw a tomahawk like a pro, horse back riding, archery, black powder muskets, view and help care for endangers species of fish and foul, learn and practice Leave No Trace principles. Visit historic sights from a vantage point few ever experience.”

We have slots for 22 participants. Scouts must be 13 years of age on January 1st, 2009. There are no exceptions to this policy. Every participant must be certified a “Swimmer” in accordance with BSA standards. A Current Class III physical is required of all participants.

Sign up at this point is done by e-mailing Mr. Hughes.  The slots will be filled on a first come-first served basis, with a waiting list established as well. Cost is $200.00 per person if we get our reservation deposits in by January 1st, 2009. The deposit is $75.00 per person and is due to the Troop at sign up.
