This week’s Meeting a PLC

Posted by Prescott on July 27, 2009

Troop,

Remember that this week’s meeting, 7/22 is a Patrol Leaders Council and Troop Committee Meeting combo.  Alot of our older Scouts and Staff are on the Missouri River High Adventure, so Connor C. will be running the PLC.

Scouts who have things they want added to the 2009-2010 calendar, could also come and talk about these in advance of the Annual Planning meeting on August 12.

Assistant Patrol Leaders, should come to this week’s meeting for sure.

Annual Planning Meeting is Aug 12

Posted by Prescott on July 21, 2009

Contrary to what is on our current Calendar, our Troop Annual Planning Meeting will be Wednesday, August 12 at 7pm at PUMC.

This meeting is for the PLC, Staff Patrol, and adult Scouters (ASM or Committee).

In preparation for this, all leaders (adult & boy) should spend time talking to people in their Patrols about the kinds of challenging activities we want to do in the coming year.  Come with a list of the kinds of things we want to do in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.  I’ve already heard from some boys that they want to do shooting sports, backpacking, 14′er climbs, serious snowcaving, snowshoeing, and canoeing.

Bring your list and do your best to have detail of location and activity.  See you there.

This week’s (7/21/09) meeting is at OBrien Park in downtown Parker. This is because Vacation Bible School has got the Church.

The meeting is at the normal 7pm and Scouts and we’ll be doing games and such. Scouts and Adults should not wear their shirts, but should come dressed to run around.

See you there.Mr. Coleman

July Campout Looking Good

Posted by Prescott on July 8, 2009

democrat-03The July bid to summit up to three official 14000+ foot peaks is on.  We had some concerns about snow on the trails, but very recent trip reports and pictures on www.14er.com show that Mount Democrat, Lincoln, and Bross are good to go.  Also, Mr. Carlson’s personal pre-trips confirm what we are seeing and reading.

So, its time to sign-up.  As usual, sign-up is done on this website under Camping and Activities.  The hard deadline is this Sunday evening.

Because of freak August snowfall last year we couldn’t bag any Fourteeners, so its time to try again.  We will be camping in essentially the same place as last year near Fairplay.  And, though we won’t be far from the cars, I encourage everyone to pack in a backpack style.  That way we can travel lighter all around.  Make sure you are prepared for mountain climbing with a good daypack, two water bottles, good boots, some powerbar/cliff bars, rain gear, a warm layer (fleece/sweater), and camera (if you want.)

This campout has no age limit, so all Scouts are encouraged to participate.  We will be getting going very early on Saturday morning, because that’s how the smart climbers do it to avoid bad weather on top.

See you there.
