Pray for Spencer K - Updated
Posted by Mark Abell on October 8, 2009Troop 16: Please remember to keep Spencer K. in your prayers as he continues to recover from surgery.
Oct 8: We have been in communication with Spencer’s Mom, and are pleased to report that his surgery went well. He is now recovering. If all continues to go well, he should be able to return home from the hospital in about one week. Let’s all keep him in our prayers - they really do work!
Oct 12: Spencer has an online care page and we have been following his recovery through that, and also been in periodic conversation with his Mom. He continues to progress at least as well as expected and we are thrilled to hear he may be heading home today or tomorrow. He still has a long road to recovery ahead, so please keep him in your prayers. I am sure that any well wishes and cards are well received, as well.
Oct 13: Spencer went home yesterday. He is doing just a little better than expected. His family is tired but all look in good spirits and happy to be home.

Attention Adults:
Troop 16 is at risk of not meeting its requirements for a Quality Unit Award, because we don’t have enough Adults that are fully trained in their positions. ASM’s should have Youth Protection Training (online), Fast Start Training (online), This is Scouting (online), and Boy Scout Leader Specific Training for Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster. Troop Committee Members should have Youth Protection Training, Fast Start Training, This is Scouting, and Troop Committee Challenge (all online). Please help your troop by getting trained. Here is an opportunity to finish your training, and pick up some new ideas, too!
The University of Scouting is coming our way. This is an opportunity offered by the Denver Area Council for leaders and parents involved in scouting to take training in several different subjects. The purpose is to improve skills and increase knowledge. Courses include topics such as Boards of Review, Dutch Oven Cooking, Working with Challenging Scouts, Tax Deductions for Volunteers and more. The training takes place Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver. The cost is $35. Those registering by October 7th will receive a $10 discount. Registration after October 21 is subject to a $15 late fee. The following URL lists the available courses

and the link below is for registration:

We owe it to our boys to be trained in our respective positions.
