Posted by Mark Abell on November 16, 2009Troop 16 can be proud to have assisted the Parker Task Force with its November food drive once again this year. In case you didn’t think it made a difference, Parker area scouts and scouters (ourselves included) helped the Task Force fill up its shelves. The food drive generated 763 boxes or 30,520 pounds of food and $5,049.00 (enough for 7 months of operations). Jim and Bobbie Chinchall, the volunteers that run the Task Force, report that, while metro-wide giving was down substantially from last year, Parker giving was up. When asked why they thought that was, they stated: ‘Rather than hope folks will bring food to us, we make it easy by going to where the food is, and simply asking them to donate. It is a successful strategy, but it couldn’t be done without all the cub scouts and boy scouts that volunteer their time to make it a success.’
