2010 Calendar Now Posted

The Troop Planning Calendars for all of 2010 and the first 3 months of 2011 have now been posted to the website and are ready for your download. Click on the Calendar-PDF link in the Quick Links box to the right to go to the Calendar web page.

Consistent with my message at the Court of Honor, we will be working hard to put more structure into each meeting. So beginning in March 2010, you will now find at the bottom of each troop calendar entry, the tentative theme for that meeting: Advancement, Skills, or Games. 

Advancement nights will focus on Trail to First Class, Merit Badges, or another form of Advancement activity (Mock Disasters, Mobilization Drill Prep, etc).

Skills nights are the Educate and Demonstrate part of the EDGE method and will focus on training scouts key skills, whether that is cooking, taking care of gear, or any manner of outdoor skill (survival, knot tying, etc.).

Game nights are the Guide and Enable part of the EDGE method andwill attempt to reinforce the skills training by allowing the scouts to “show their stuff” in a fun patrol competition-style environment.

You will also note that Troop Committee Meetings have now been scheduled on the 3rd or 4th Monday of each month. ASM meetings are typically on the first Monday of each month. Parents, these meetings are your opportunity to impact the direction of the troop. Please add these to your calendars and plan on attending.
