Railroading Merit Badge

Posted by Lisa Denton on July 30, 2010

The Rocky Mountain Division of the Train Collectors Association will be hosting a Railroading Merit Badge program at the annual Summer Train Show.  The show will be August 7-8 at the Colo Railroad Museum in Golden.  Scouts and Scouters in uniform will be admitted free to the show and the museum.  This is a fun and fast merit badge for scouts, especially good for younger scouts.  This is also a great outing for the whole family.

ericebor01Please join me in congratulating Eric J. on becoming Troop 16’s latest Eagle. I am told he passed his Eagle Board on Monday night. With that, he will forever join our rolls as Troop 16’s 88th Eagle.

Eric’s Eagle Board was comprised of Dick Reynolds, his District Eagle Advisor, Nate Smith, T16 Eagle and former Scoutmaster, Chris Denton, T16 Eagle and college student, Al Pacheco, T16 Parent of a Star Scout, and Chuck Parker, T16 Parent of a Life Scout.

Congratulations to Eric and his family!

Track the Northern Tier Trek on the Web

Posted by Prescott on July 19, 2010

northern-tier-logo-2010-rThe Northern Tier team will be carrying a “Spot” GPS tracker.  This device sends a “ping” every 10 minutes throughout the day to a website, which maps our location.

Family and friends can monitor our progress over the 80 miles by going to this website - which will be activated on July 20th - http://share.findmespot.com/shared/gogl.jsp?glId=08mUWrRkH1oBQXKoKLUzp1Izue5P3C5Yy

This is the same tool we used to watch Les Stroud (aka The Survivorman) out on the ice near Baffin Island.

The device will be off at night and reactivated when we get going each morning.  Please have a look.

Survivorman Page Added

Posted by Mark Abell on July 11, 2010

A new web page has been added which describes the Survivorman Challenge and our partnership with Les Stroud to bring it to the USA. Mr. Abell will be adding some photos this week, but the text is available for your reading pleasure. Troop 16 should take pride in the incredible program we have built, and this is just one example of 12 months of program each year that distinguishes our program from so many others.

The web page article can be found by following the link on the About Us page, or by clicking here.
