Cave of the Winds Campout October 25th to 27th

Posted by Robert Holzhauser on September 26, 2019

How about some spelunking through a cave?!

The campout will give you an opportunity to work toward the Geology Merit Badge and explore the Manitou Grand Caverns. Saturday we will take a 2 1/2 hour tour through part of the cave that is closed to the public. On this tour you will crawl/climb/walk for nearly a mile while learning basic spelunking skills as well as the history and geology of the cave.  Sign Up on Troop Track

The troop is going to cover the cost of the spelunking. Cost for the campout will then be just the customary $20.

We will be camping at the Pike Community Campground. Located about 6 miles north of Woodland Park in Central Colorado. It has a baseball field, playground, sand volleyball court and a horseshoe pit as well as nearby access to hiking and biking trails. The site is equipped with picnic and serving tables. We need to bring our own water. A true car-campers paradise. As usual, 4:00 pm meetup at PUMC on Friday, the drive is about 80 minutes.
