IT’S RECHARTER TIME!

Posted by Deb Worby on January 26, 2012

Thank you for being a part of Troop 16 and supporting Boys Scouts of America.   One of the ways you show your support is by annually renewing your membership in the troop and BSA by paying your recharter fees for both scouts and registered adults.  The recharter amounts are: $27 for first scout, which includes a yearly subscription to Boys Life magazine, and $15 for each additional scout and each adult.  In addition, all adults must have their current YPT on file. Please make sure you are not dropped from the roster.  The deadline to have all fees turned in and adult training completed is January 31st.  Thank you in advance for making sure the troop’s recharter process goes smoothly.   If you have any questions, please contact Deb Worby.  Again, thank you and Happy 2012!

GOOD TURN EVENT-9Cares Colorado Shares

Posted by Deb Worby on October 29, 2011

We all know what the Scout Slogan is - “Do a Good Turn Daily.”  On November 12th you’ll have the opportunity to take part in the Troop’s official Good Turn event at the Parker Task Force 9Cares Colorado Shares food drive.  We will be assisting in the food drive all day from 7:00 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m.  You’re asked to work one 2-hour shift by assisting in various ways such as setting up, greeting folks as they drop off items, sorting food, stocking shelves, and cleaning up at the end of the drive.  This event is a requirement to fulfill your duty to the troop and the community.  If you haven’t already signed up for a shift, email Mrs. Worby at ddworby@comcast.net and find out what’s still available.  Thanks in advance for doing your Good Turn on Nov. 12th!

SUMMER CAMP - Med Form Change

Posted by Deb Worby on June 7, 2011

The troop has just learned that camp Ben Delatour will NOT accept the new BSA National Medical form that is used by the Denver Area Council.  Because the troop is based out of the Denver Area Council and uses the BSA National form, we’re required to complete both the BSA National form for the Troop and the Colorado form for Camp Ben Delatour.

The National form is found at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/whole.pdf

The form required for Ben Delatour is found at http://www.longspeakbsa.org/forms/campmedform11fillable.pdf.

Please have your physician sign both forms and return them to Mrs. Palmer at an upcoming troop meeting.  Sorry for the confusion on this matter.  If you should have any questions, please see David See, ASM, Summer Camp Coordinator.  Thank you!

Please join me in congratulating Troop 16’s newest Outstanding Scouters - Mrs. Patty Ahrens, Mr. Ryan Mead, Mr. Jeff Mueller, Mrs. Sherry Palmer, Mr. David See, and Mrs. Christine Veto.  Each of these very active Troop 16 scouters presently hold an adult leadership position - one that is critical to the smooth operation of the troop.    These Outstanding Scouters will be honored at the Pioneer Trails District dinner and award ceremony on March 11th.  We are very honored and blessed to have such dedicated scouters who call Troop 16 home!  Thank you for all you do!

ANNUAL PANCAKE SUPPER FUNDRAISER

Posted by Deb Worby on February 9, 2011

The annual Pancake Supper fundraiser is right around the corner! On  Tuesday, February 15th, every member of the troop has been called to roll up their sleeves to insure we have another successful event.  To make this happen we need all scouts to arrive early for their assigned shifts and be prepared to give everyone who walks in the door a sincere Troop 16 welcome and a delicious plate of pancakes with all the fixins’.  Also, we need parents to arrive early for set up (around 1:00 pm if possible) and plan not to leave until the last crumb is swept up.  The time goes quickly, so remember to work hard and have fun.  Everyone is important to the success of this fundraiser!  See you there!

RE-CHARTER TIME IS HERE!! Deadline 1/18/11

Posted by Deb Worby on January 15, 2011

We urgently need your help to ensure that the troop’s charter will be renewed on time so uninterrupted scouting can continue for Troop 16.  How can you help make that happen?  By paying your dues and making sure each registered scouter is trained with a minimum of Youth Protection Training (YPT).  How much are dues you ask?  $27 for first scout in the family; $15 for each additional scout and each registered scouter.   The deadline to submit your payment is the January Court of Honor (1/18).  You may turn in your payment to Lisa Denton or Deb Worby and please don’t hesitate to contact either one if you have questions (Lisa @ dentonpl@aol.com or Deb @ ddworby@comcast.net or 720-233-1136).  Working together we can ensure the process will go smoothly and the deadline will be met.   Make checks payable to Troop 16 and bring payments to scout meetings or mail to Lisa Denton 11049 Tim Tam Way Parker Co 80138.   Thank you!!

MEDICAL FORMS NOTICE!

Posted by Deb Worby on January 9, 2011

On a very positive note, we have just discovered from the head of the district, that the current med forms which we’re all using now are still okay to use and don’t need to be replaced until they expire.  This means you don’t need to run to your doctor and request the new medical form be signed which we previously thought was necessary.  If you’ve already made the effort to get the new form signed, thank you for your efforts.  Please know this has been a confusing process for all, even the district office.  Communication is sometimes our hardest barrier to overcome.  At least, right now, Troop 16 is on the same page!

SMOKIN BREW BBQ FUNDRAISER - LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!

Posted by Deb Worby on September 3, 2010

Scouts and Scouters,
As you know the Smokin Brew BBQ event at Parker Station is this weekend, September 3, 4 & 5.  (SIGN-UP WILL CLOSE @ 12 NOON ON FRI. THE 3rd.) Our job is very similar to Parker Days but on a smaller scale. Each scout, parent, sibling, or friend that works will earn a  wage of approximately $8 per hour. This will vary with the number of people working. All money earned will go to the Scout account of your choice. You may prefer community service, which is fine too. This is a very rare opportunity for the Scout to help his parents pay for the cost of scouting. There are very few open slots on the schedule. If you are not sure now but want to work a shift or two please show up 30 minutes before the shift. I will accept up to 3 walk-ins on each shift. First come first serve.  Some final notes:  1) Scout HQ is under the huge tree near the dumpsters west of Parker Station, in the field. Follow the dirt road. 2) Show up 15 minutes early for your shift.  3) Sign in and out - Very important. If you don’t sign in and out you may get shorted on money.  4) You know the routine, hats, gloves, sun screen, water, Class A uniform, comfortable shoes, rain gear, etc.  5) 8am shift please bring a push broom, snow shovel, leaf blower, and large dust pans if you have them.  6) Get ready to eat a lot of BBQ and HAVE FUN!  Please Click Here to Sign-up for a Shift.  You will need to be Logged On in order to sign-up.
