SMOKIN BREW BBQ FUNDRAISER - LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!
Posted by Deb Worby on September 3, 2010Scouts and Scouters,
As you know the Smokin Brew BBQ event at Parker Station is this weekend, September 3, 4 & 5. (SIGN-UP WILL CLOSE @ 12 NOON ON FRI. THE 3rd.) Our job is very similar to Parker Days but on a smaller scale. Each scout, parent, sibling, or friend that works will earn a wage of approximately $8 per hour. This will vary with the number of people working. All money earned will go to the Scout account of your choice. You may prefer community service, which is fine too. This is a very rare opportunity for the Scout to help his parents pay for the cost of scouting. There are very few open slots on the schedule. If you are not sure now but want to work a shift or two please show up 30 minutes before the shift. I will accept up to 3 walk-ins on each shift. First come first serve. Some final notes: 1) Scout HQ is under the huge tree near the dumpsters west of Parker Station, in the field. Follow the dirt road. 2) Show up 15 minutes early for your shift. 3) Sign in and out - Very important. If you don’t sign in and out you may get shorted on money. 4) You know the routine, hats, gloves, sun screen, water, Class A uniform, comfortable shoes, rain gear, etc. 5) 8am shift please bring a push broom, snow shovel, leaf blower, and large dust pans if you have them. 6) Get ready to eat a lot of BBQ and HAVE FUN! Please Click Here to Sign-up for a Shift. You will need to be Logged On in order to sign-up.

HERE WE GO! THE SMOKIN’ BREW BBQ FUNDRAISER is right around the corner. Labor Day Weekend is upon us and so is another chance to show Parker what Troop 16 is made of!
The Smokin Brew BBQ event starts for Troop 16 from noon on Friday, 9/3 to Sunday, 9/5
If you haven’t already signed up, please make sure you do so immediately. We need all available scouts, parents, and siblings to step up and help out! And feel free to sign-up for more than one shift if you want.
We’re working in shifts, as usual, and the time worked will translate into money earned going directly into the scout accounts or community service. Please Click Here to Sign-up for a Shift. You will need to be Logged On in order to sign-up.
We will meet at the Parker Station Parking Lot near the Dumpsters!
Thank you to Mike Rabon for his willingness to arrange and coordinate this event for our troop! This is a wonderful opportunity!
TROOP FAMILY PICNIC - AUG. 10th
Posted by Deb Worby on August 7, 2010Mark your calendars for the Annual Troop Family Picnic on August 10th. Once again, the picnic will be at the Canterberry Crossing Master Association pool, which is located at east Mainstreet and Canterberry Trail (22500 Canterberry Trail) in Parker. The festivities will start at 6:00 p.m. and go until 9:00 p.m. The troop will supply the main course (hamburgers & hot dogs, of course), and everyone is being asked to bring their favorite receipe according to the following: last name starting with A to M, bring a side dish; and N to Z, bring a dessert. It’s important that you sign up for this event no later than Aug. 8th if you plan to attend. Also, we need a couple folks to step up and volunteer to be the troop’s Grillin’ Chefs for the night, and a few folks to show up around 5:30 to be the set up crew, as well as a few to stay and make sure all is clean and tidy at the end of the night. Thank you to Cindy Grim for arranging this fabulous family event, as well as to all who plan to make this the Troop’s best summer picnic ever!!

Congratulations Outstanding Scouters!
Posted by Deb Worby on March 22, 2010Troop 16 has a lot to be proud of…not only for the outstanding scouts that call Troop 16 home, but for all our outstanding scouters. Recently there was a Pioneer Trails District dinner honoring the 2009 Outstanding Scouters. Please join me in congratulating our very own Outstanding Scouters: Mark Ahrens, Gary Carroll, Joe Kjar, Ben Jimerson and Al Pacheco. These gentlemen exemplify what true adult leadership is all about. Congratulations!
Pancake Supper THANK YOUs!
Posted by Deb Worby on February 20, 2010Once again, Troop 16 had a successful Pancake Supper on Tuesday, 2/16, thanks to all of you who, not only sold tickets, but also worked the event! We have some very dedicated scouts and adults in Troop 16, and you should be proud of your efforts. This event could not have taken place without the many hours of preparation before, during and after the Supper. A big thank you goes out to Carol Siebring for her superb organizational skills and in finding the right people to step in where needed. Thank you to the “tent guys” who made the best pancakes we’ve ever tasted in T16. Thank you kitchen ladies - they made sure the food was served hot and that the scouts were the best servers they could be! Thank you to Mark Santy for arranging the memorabilia table. How wonderful to see how far this great organization has come. Suzette Farrar did a wonderful job of making the dining room look like an inviting place to enjoy the delicious dinner. David Worby stepped in when we found out that our normal food supplier was no longer available, and he ordered the entire fixins’ from cakes to syrup. Debbie Santy did her magic at the money table to make sure everything balanced. And last, but certainly not least, William P., stepped up his game - when Mr. Abell was delayed he heard the call from the kitchen to assign the patrols and make sure all scouts were in the right place at the right time. Well done, William! Thank you to all the families who did their part in purchasing/selling tickets! It takes the entire troop to make an event like this a success! THANK YOU Scouts and Adults of Troop 16!!
