Troop 16’s Annual Picnic - Coming Soon!!!
Posted by Lisa Denton on August 1, 2011Quick! Grab a pen and mark Tuesday, August 9th on your calendar as the day for our awesome Troop 16 Picnic. This year we are having it at the beautiful Castlewood Canyon, south on Hwy 83, past Franktown. We rented the covered pavilion, which is right next to the volleyball, horseshoe and playground areas. The troop will provide paper products, drinks, hamburgers and hotdogs. Get out your old family recipes and dazzle us with your creations - families whose last name starts with A-M, please bring a dessert and families whose last name starts with N-Z, please bring a side dish. The troop is paying for your admission to the park; watch your mailbox for a pass. Help us save money though; please carpool if possible!
ALSO, PLEASE RSVP BY SIGNING UP ONLINE, SO WE KNOW HOW MUCH FOOD TO PURCHASE. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE AND SIGN UP.
Side Note- Adults looking for a great once-a-year volunteer opportunity… Picnic coordinator position is not available anymore! Thank you David Baumgartner for volunteering for this once-a-year, pretty-darn-easy position! There are plenty of other positions available. Please consider volunteering… Remember our troop is only as awesome as WE make it!

Flag Retirement Ceremony on 7/12
Posted by Lisa Denton on July 8, 2011Taylor F. will be hosting a Flag Retirement Ceremony on July 12th beginning promptly at 6:15 PM (before the regular Troop meeting at PUMC). Boy Scouts of America is one of only three organizations that can retire a flag. This is a great opportunity to participate in one of these ceremonies, particularly for first year scouts. This ceremony is open to everyone in the troop including adults.
Swim Checks & First Class Trail swim requirements
Posted by Lisa Denton on June 12, 2011A swim check is required for everyone going to summer camp (scouts and adults). This is also required if you doing any water activities with the troop throughout the year. This is an ANNUAL test. The troop has arranged to meet at Parker Rec Center on Sunday, June 19th. Please arrive between 2:00 and 2:45pm. It is a fast test and should only take 15-20 minutes. Tell them you are with Troop 16 for a discount on the admission price.
Yours in Scouting,
Mrs. Denton
Merit Badge Counselor Training
Posted by Lisa Denton on May 26, 2011There will be a Merit Badge Counselor Training next Tuesday 5/31/11 at PUMC at 7pm. This is a good class for adults to take even if you are not ready to become a counselor but just want to learn how to help your son earn merit badges. This evening is a PLC night so no scouts attend unless they are patrol leaders.

Posted by Lisa Denton on May 25, 2011Double Angel Foundation is looking for a few volunteers to help out during Victorian Peaks 5K/10K Race on July 4, 2011 for a few hours in the morning. Posted by Lisa Denton on March 9, 2011Here is a great merit badge opportunity, especially for our younger scouts, even our brand new scouts. Older scouts too, this is a quick, easy and FUN badge. The Rocky Mountain Toy Train Show is having a spring show this year on the weekend of March 19-20. This is a fun event for the whole family. Boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts in uniform and kids under 12 get in free. Adults in uniform may get in free too or at least at a reduced price. Almost the entire Railroading merit badge will be completed at the show. Go to: http://www.rmtts.com/Boy_Scouts_RR_Merit_Badge.htm for more information.
