August Campout Fees Reduced
Posted by Mark Abell on August 13, 2011The August Campout will include a free campsite, and lunch is included with the raft trip. As a result, the troop has decided to reduce its normal $18 camp fee to $9. Add $18 in gas surcharge, and $39 (youth) or $47 (adults) for the raft trip and the total comes to $66 for scouts, and $74 for adults.
Camp fees are due on Tuesday, so please don’t forget. Because of the high cost of this trip, anyone who forgets to bring money will not be able to go on the rafting trip.

Mr. Brainard received the following notice about a Shooting Sports Day coming up on August 20 at the Lockheed Martin shooting range (Waterton Canyon: Wadsworth just south of C-470). It is a good opportunity to finish a rifle or shotgun shooting sports merit badge. Here are the details we have.

Congratulations to Troop 16’s Newest Eagle
Posted by Mark Abell on July 25, 2011
Please join me in congratulating Cari Rand for achieving the rank of Eagle. Cari sat before his Eagle Board of review last week, and I am told the board members were very impressed with our new Eagle. He will go down in history as Troop 16’s 95th Eagle.
He designed and installed a planting bed and walkway safety and beautification project for Mountain View Elementary School. His Eagle Board included: District Eagle Representative Mike Buchart; Troop 16 members Dan Weaver and John Sutton, and Scouter Mike Woodward.
Cari, we are so proud of you! You did it!
7/26 Meeting: Change of Location
Posted by Mark Abell on July 25, 2011Troop 16:
This Tuesday’s meeting will be a giant game of Capture the Flag put on by your leadership. As a result, we have changed the location of our meeting to the open space located on the East end of the Pinery. From the church, take Parker Rd south to N. Pinery Drive, and go east to Ponderosa Dr (about 1/2 mile past Mountain View Elementary). Ponderosa Drive is a dirt road with ample space for parking along the side. Park and walk east, back across N. Pinery Parkway, through the Road Closed barricades. We will meet you at the fence line.
PLEASE WEAR A T-SHIRT AND YOUR CLASS A UNIFORM SHIRT. We will play T-Shirts vs. Class A’, and split the teams once we get there.

Congressman Coffman Visit Postponed to Aug. 23
Posted by Mark Abell on July 10, 2011Mr. Abell received a phone call from Congressman Mike Coffman’s office requesting that we postpone the visit to his office that was scheduled for Tuesday July 19th. The Congressman was notified that he needed to report to Washington DC this week for an emergency session. So, we have rescheduled this meeting for Tuesday, August 23rd, at 4:00 pm. Remember, this meeting will cover the citizenship talk with an elected official for Trail to First Class. With a little preparation by identifying an issue that is important to our community, you will also have an opportunity to ask Mr. Coffman what is being don about that in Congress, and this meeting would then fulfill a requirement for Cit in the Community. Or, with a little preparation and a little write-up after your meeting, you could get a solid explanation of the function of each of the branches of the federal government and write up what you learn to fulfill a requirement for Cit in the Nation.
The sign-up and web page dedicated to this event have also been updated.
