Troop 16 is pleased to announce the newest member of a life time achievement, Eagle Scout.
On January 16th, 2012 Josh completed his final Eagle Board of Review to become our troops next and first Eagle Scout for 2012.
A rank statistically received by very few who enter scouting. Through countless hours of hard work and great fun, Josh has earned this great honor.
Josh knows that the time he has put into scouting to receive this rank was not earned alone. It also goes to the credit of parents, adult volunteers and fellow scouts that supported Josh to this day.
Thank you all and congratulations Josh.

The date of this year’s Pancake Supper fundraiser is Feb. 21. All scouts need to participate by selling tickets and working the evening of the event!
This year the ticket prices and the structure of how many tickets need to be sold have both changed. Tickets this year are a flat $5.00 per person. Ticket sales requirements per family are: 1 scout=8 tickets, 2 scouts=12 tickets, 3 scouts=16 tickets, 4 scouts = 20 tickets.
Tickets will be sold at PUMC on Feb 5, Feb 12, & Feb 19. Scouts can receive community service hours for helping with this.
We also need lots of adult help to make this fundraiser successful.
Tickets to be sold can be picked up and signup sheets for Sunday ticket sales and adult help will be available at the Winter Court of Honor on Jan. 31. Be sure to come to the COH to pick up your tickets, signup to help, and learn more about this year’s event. See you there!

Just a quick reminder for folks coming to this weekend’s Adventure Race (Scouts and Webelos) to turn at the first entrance to Peaceful Valley, also known as the North Entrance.
You’ll then make one right and one left, then wind around into Adventure Valley. This is also the new Shooting Sports/Sporting Clays area. Click Here for a Map of the way in. Remember Peaceful Valley is about 10 miles south of Kiowa, near Elbert.
Parking will be tricky with all the folks who are coming, so try and keep down the number of vehicles you are bringing and know that we will probably park you in a fairly undeveloped field (don’t bring that sports car). See you there.

After carefuel consideration, the start time for the feast at the Adventure Race Campout on November 19 has been CHANGED to 3:00 p.m. instead of 4:00 p.m. This is being done to help encourage more Webelos families to stick around for the Luau Pig Roast and to help be sure we are done before nightfall.
Please spread the word that this time has changed. The Quest for the Holy Grail – Crown Jewels Adventure Race will still take place from 8:00am to 1:00pm, but the time for the begining of the feast has been moved forward to 3:00 p.m.

We all know what the Scout Slogan is – “Do a Good Turn Daily.” On November 12th you’ll have the opportunity to take part in the Troop’s official Good Turn event at the Parker Task Force 9Cares Colorado Shares food drive. We will be assisting in the food drive all day from 7:00 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. You’re asked to work one 2-hour shift by assisting in various ways such as setting up, greeting folks as they drop off items, sorting food, stocking shelves, and cleaning up at the end of the drive. This event is a requirement to fulfill your duty to the troop and the community. If you haven’t already signed up for a shift, email Mrs. Worby and find out what’s still available. Thanks in advance for doing your Good Turn on Nov. 12th!

The October Urban Adventure is a one-day exploration through the heart of downtown Denver. It’s designed to give the Boys Scouts a different environment—away from the peace and solitude of the outdoors—in the hustle and bustle of the urban scenery. Scouts will be given a list of Adventure Point Locations (mainly well-known landmarks) each with a different point allocation (based on difficulty and distance). The goal is for each team to visit as many locations as possible and return with the most points (photo evidence required). The boys will utilize the public transportation system and will be required to plot their strategy and route and learn to use the Light Rail and RTD Bus system to travel to each of their destinations.
