October 2009 Campout – RMNP Wildlife Adventure

Description:

The October Campout will be devoted to camping near Rocky Mountain National Park and spending Saturday hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We hope to witness the fall Elk “rut” and provide an opportunity for our Philmont Treks to strap on their backpacks and get a few miles of hiking in. In addition, we will be running a photo competition where scouts will take photos, correctly identify their subject (flora, fauna, or geographic landscape) and enter the photo into a troop-wide competition to be held at an upcoming meeting. Prizes will be awarded.

When?

Friday, October 9 – Sunday, October 11, 2009

We will meet at the church at 4:00 pm Friday, and return around noon on Sunday.

 

Where?

Camping and hiking near Rocky Mountain National Park’s Estes Park entrance.

Cost?

$18.00 per person ($18.00 per scout plus $0.00 fuel surcharge).

 

Sign-up Deadline?

October 4, 2009 at Midnight. No exceptions.

Special Requirements?

All scouts and adult scouters planning to attend must have a Class I Med Form on file with the Troop,  signed by their parents.

 

What to Bring?

Basic camping gear (see suggested gear file under the Camping tab / Files section) plus winter clothing.
