Description:

The September High Adventure will be a backpacking trek on the Colorado Trail from Goldhill Trailhead near Frisco to Copper Mountain. We will be able to run the trek one way, and then ride the Summit Stage Free Shuttle, or may elect to drop a car at the end point. This trek will take us up over a high mountain pass, above tree line, and then drop to the prior trailhead. It begins at about 9,200 feet in elevation, peaks out at 12,440 feet, and then drops into Copper Mountain which lies at about 9,700 feet. The trail takes us by aspen stands, through a sub-alpine forest, along a stream and along the shore of scenic Rainbow Lake. For pictures of the trek, see the following link:

Special Requirements?

Scouts and adults planning to go on this high adventure trip should be prepared for a high altitude backpacking adventure with cold weather possible. All scouts and adult scouters planning to attend must have a Class III Med Form on file with the Troop, and be prepared to take on significant troop gear for their packs. They should expect to carry about 20 lbs of troop gear and food, plus their regular backpacking gear.

What to Bring?

Clothes and boots suitable for a fall backpacking adventure at high altitude on good trails. Zero degree sleeping bags and backpacking tents (1 per 2 adults or scouts). Snow and cold is a distinct possibility this time of year, but the views will make it well worth the trip.

Signed up and no longer able to attend? Call or email Mr. Abell or Mr. Pacheco.
