September Campout: Caving at Glenwood Caverns

Description:
The September Campout will be devoted to a caving trip at scenic Glenwood Caverns. The cave tour will be a private, guided get-on-your-belly-and-crawl-through-the-mud-to-see-the-wonders-of-beautiful-Glenwood-Caverns tour. Then, on Saturday afternoon, we will thank the Caverns with a conservation project for allowing us to stay on their land and giving us the free tour (normally a $50 cost).
When?
Friday, September 9 – Sunday, September 11, 2011
We will meet at the church at 4:00 pm Friday, and return around noon on Sunday.
Where?
We will be camping on private land owned by Glenwood Caverns just north of Glenwood Springs.

Cost?
Expenses will be split among the participants, including fuel costs, food and camping.
The following fees are estimates, and will be finalized in the next week or so:
Standard Camp Fee: $18.00 (Adults and Scouts)
Mileage Fee (400 miles x $0.04/mi): $16.00 (Adults and Scouts)
Subtotal – Campout Only $34.00
Add: Cave Tour FREE (SCOUTS AND ADULTS)
Total for Caving Campout $34.00
Sign-up Deadline?
August 30, 2011 at Midnight. No exceptions. The cave tour count is needed no later than September 1 to the tour company.

Special Requirements?
Scouts and adults planning to go on the cave tour should be comfortable in tight, dark spaces, or this trip may not be right for them. All scouts and adult scouters planning to attend must have a Class I Med Form on file with the Troop. AND ALL SCOUTS MUST HAVE A WAIVER FORM, SIGNED BY A PARENT, TO GO ON THE CAVE TOUR. release-form-wild-adv.
What to Bring?
Clothes and Shoes suitable for caving (closed toed tennis shoes or boots) that can get wet and muddy, and a headlamp or flashlight (headlamps work best).
