February 2010 Campout - Snow Pioneering and Winter Survival Competition

The Troop will be camping at Tahosa Boy Scout Camp. This will be an outdoor camp with snow pioneering and winter survival competition for the Scouts. Activities will include building their own snow shelter for sleeping and other outdoor snow activities.
When:
February 5 - 7, 2010. We will meet at the Church at 5:30 p.m. on Friday the 5th to do a gear check and pack the small trailer. We will leave on Saturday morning the 6th at 7:00am, then return about 12:00 p.m. on the 7th. In stead of a Friday meal, please bring a Saturday breakfast.
Where:
We will be camping at Camp Tahosa which is located just north of Ward.

Cost?
$18.00 per person
Sign-up Deadline:
January 26, 2010 at midnight
Special Requirements:Class III medical form must be on file with the Troop. This form must be signed by a physician. All adults must be registered with the troop and have completed Youth Protection Training.
What to Bring:
Pack accordingly for VERY cold weather conditions!!! Each Scout should bring a tarp, which could be their ground cloth or rain fly, which will be used in construction of their snow shelter. Scouts should bring their own tents for a backup shelter just in case. Check the camping gear section of the website for information on cold weather gear. Scouts must bring a snow shovel and a second set of outer clothing - socks, gloves, hat, jacket, snow-bibs, and boots. Scouts must also bring their own mess kit - bowl, utensils, and mug.
