Description:
If you previously signed up for this campout but can no longer make it, click here.
You and your teammates were en route to a vacation destination when suddenly the plane crashes down in the middle of the wilderness. With nothing but the daypacks on your back, the equipment you find strewn about, and the food you catch, you and your team must fight to survive overnight and find your way out of the wilderness.
The May Campout will be a Survivorman Challenge in the new backcountry area of Peaceful Valley where teams will compete on a variety of Wilderness Survival Challenge events, including “catching” their food, finding clean water sources, setting up shelters, making camp gadgets including alcohol penny stoves, and starting fires to cook their meals. Gear will be strictly limited for this challenge to your 10 essentials, sleeping bags and a few other pre-defined items. Meals will be cached for the boys to “catch” in the snares and traps that they build. Plans will be given to them in advance, so that they can figure out how to build solar stills for water collection, traps and snares and fishing lines to catch their food, and shelters to sleep in. They will be given detailed maps of the area with caches noted, and instructions for a rendezvous point on Sunday morning.
Each team will receive points for each task they complete successfully, and the team with the most points will win. The staff will compete against the other patrols, and one adult will be stationed with each patrol outpost to ensure safety and to act as referee for awarding points.
