Mock Disaster Coming April 20th and May 4th, 2010, 6:30 pm

Posted by Mark Abell on February 28, 2010

Troop 16 is holding Mock Disasters during the regular meetings on both April 20th and May 4th as part of a month-long effort to train our scouts in Emergency Preparedness and First Aid. For those of you that may not know what this is, it is 4-hour event spread across two meetings where boys walk from “disaster” to “disaster”, assessing what is wrong and then dealing with the issue as if they were the first responder. Disaster examples include car crashes, poison consumption, broken bones, bleeding victims, etc. Thanks to our expert make-up artists, the victims will look very real. It is great training for our boys, and will test their skills and knowledge in first aid in a friendly and supportive environment.

Troop 16 needs your help in running these events! We need LOTS of Adults and Siblings (age 10 and up, though an occasional younger sibling may be able to be used) to participate as the disaster victims. You will need to be available by 4:30 pm for make-up and debriefing, and then be able to stay until the meeting ends. Sign up as a volunteer for one or both nights by clicking on this link: Mock Disaster
