Snow Sports Campout February 21 – 23, 2020

Posted by Robert Holzhauser on January 29, 2020

Sign-ups are now open for the Snow Sports campout to be held Feb 21-23, 2020.

This is a popular campout and affords the opportunity to earn the Snow Sports merit badge.

We will be snow camping at the Tennessee Pass trailhead near Ski Cooper. Ski Cooper is an ideal ski and snowboard venue with plenty of terrain for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Ski Cooper visitors also benefit from smaller crowds and affordable lift tickets. Cost will be standard camp fee of $20 plus the cost of a lift ticket and/or equipment rental (group prices are being negotiated). The Troop encourages adult sign-ups too and we are looking for an adult Camp Host for this campout, contact Mr. Kamm for details.

Melita Island Summer Camp – 2nd Payment link now active

Melita Island Summer Camp

Camp date: July 25 – August 2, 2020

Summer camp 2020 will be a return to Melita Island! This one of Troop 16’s perennial favorite summer camps.  Melita Island is a 64-acre island in Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Montana. It is part of the Flathead Indian Reservation.

Melita Island is a superb place for Scouts to hone their leadership skills, revel in the island’s natural environment, and participate in all kinds of water-related activities. Melita Island offers a number of unique traits that make it an appealing place for Scouts from all over Montana, the nation, and indeed, the world, to come and camp.

Total Cost will be $800 per Scout, and $550 per adult. This fee is the camp fee plus transportation and food costs. Per Troop policy, payments are not refundable, unless someone else takes that spot.

Mini-High Adventure – Lost Creek Backpacking Signup Online

Posted by Brian Hardy on May 21, 2019

The June High Adventure Campout will be a 3 or 4-day backpacking trek into the Lost Creek Wilderness.  We will leave the church at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 13 or 8:00 am Friday June 14, and will return on Sunday afternoon. During the Trek we expect to backpack 15 or more miles over 2 1/2 days, while exploring the unique geologic monoliths that are present in the Lost Creek Wilderness.

The trek is open to scouts 13 years old or older and First Class Rank or higher. To find out more, and to sign up, click here.

This is a great prep trip for Philmont and Northern Tier, but you don’t have to be going to these National High Adventure Bases to come.

2019 Philmont signup is now LIVE!

Troop 16 currently has slots for 2 crews to Philmont 2019 from 7/18/19 – 7/30/19.

Take the next challenge by attending Philmont 2018. It is one of the best experiences a scout can have – and since it is just 4 hours from Denver, it’s by far the least expensive National High Adventure Base you can attend.

Please help us gauge how many crews to request by signing up on the “Interest Only” Sign-Up page.  Indications of interest will be collected through Oct 25, 2016.
