Merit Badge Counselor Training

Posted by Lisa Denton on May 26, 2011

There will be a Merit Badge Counselor Training next Tuesday 5/31/11 at PUMC at 7pm.  This is a good class for adults to take even if you are not ready to become a counselor but just want to learn how to help your son earn merit badges.  This evening is a PLC night so no scouts attend unless they are patrol leaders.

Railroading Merit Badge 3/19 or 3/20

Posted by Lisa Denton on March 9, 2011

Here is a great merit badge opportunity, especially for our younger scouts, even our brand new scouts.  Older scouts too, this is a quick, easy and FUN badge.  The Rocky Mountain Toy Train Show is having a spring show this year on the weekend of March 19-20.  This is a fun event for the whole family.  Boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts in uniform and kids under 12 get in free.  Adults in uniform may get in free too or at least at a reduced price.  Almost the entire Railroading merit badge will be completed at the show.  Go to:  http://www.rmtts.com/Boy_Scouts_RR_Merit_Badge.htm for more information.  Contact me with any questions at dentonpl@aol.com.   -Mrs. Denton

There is still time left to finish up those old merit badges.  You have your blue cards; you know what needs to be completed.  When you have completed a badge, email me at dentonpl@aol.com and I will arrange for a counselor to meet with you to review the badge.

Swimming Merit Badge

Posted by Lisa Denton on August 30, 2010

swimmingThe last session of the water portion of the Swimming Merit Badge is on September 12 from 2-5pm at the Parker Rec Center; $3.50 for scouts.  You may begin or complete the badge at these sessions if you have already started it.

If you would like to attend this merit badge class, you must respond to me by Tuesday 9/7 for the 9/12 class.

At these sessions we will focus on the following requirements: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.  The dry portion for you to do on your own are requirements: 1, 2, 6d, 10.  Requirement 3 has to do with rank advancement; if you are not a First Class Scout, you must have completed Second Class requirements 8a, 8b, 8c and First Class requirements 9a, 9b, 9c.  If you are not sure if you have completed these requirements, email me or discuss at a Scout meeting.

Please note that these sessions are not swimming classes.  Read the badge requirements and practice to be sure that you will pass.  This is a very important badge and no requirement will be signed off unless you are proficient at it.

Go to http://meritbadge.org/wiki/images/d/db/swimming.pdf to download the worksheet.
