Posted by Sonya Lipman on August 22, 2018

The Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Colorado Springs Diocese will be hosting their annual religious awards retreat Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church – Colorado Springs, 2650 Parish View, Colorado Springs, CO 80919.

The Retreat is for Catholic and non-Catholic Christian girls and boys in the various Scouting programs wishing to work on the Religious Awards of their faith. The registration flyer link is below.  Note that this year’s form is a fillable PDF with full comments on each field to help fill in the information.

The Retreat will offer an Alternate Awards session that will offer awards from the Footsteps of American Saints, Women in Scripture, and/or Models of Faith patch series. These are great awards to help deepen your faith and learn about famous Christians of the past.

If you have a connection to your parish office and wouldn’t mind contacting them, we would appreciate you putting the following announcement in your Sunday Bulletin at least a two or three Sunday’s before the Retreat:

Religious Awards for Scouts

All girls and boys in Scouting programs from Kindergarten through High School can earn Religious Awards appropriate to their age and grade.  The Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Colorado Springs is hosting a retreat to help Scouts earn their Religious Awards.  The Retreat will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church – Colorado Springs on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.  Cost is $15 for early registrations, $20 for registrations received after Wednesday, October 3rd.  Lunch is provided.  Scouts in grades K-3 must have a parent or guardian accompany them.  Scouts in grades 7-12 are required to attend the Retreat to earn their awards, although they may begin work on an award, with an approved counselor, before the Retreat.  Younger Scouts can accomplish all the work for their awards working with their parents. For more information about the Retreat or about Scouting Religious Awards in general, please contact Curtis O’Connell, 719-590-1104 or CJOCS@comcast.net.
