Class B Uniform Orders
Posted by Prescott on March 17, 2010Class B’s
Troop 16 encourages its Scouts to get “Class A” and ”Class B” uniforms. Class A uniforms are the well-known khaki shirt (with patches) and green pant uniforms. Class B’s are casual shirts, hats, hoodies, polar fleece sweaters/jackets, and other items with the Troop Logo embroidered on them. They can also have the Scout’s name added the embroidery.
In particular, we encourage boys to acquire non-cotton tee-shirts for hiking and wearing under layers. Cotton can be dangerous in wet cold weather. The kind we have in Colorado in June and July.
You may order Class B’s at any time of year. However, we may wait to batch our orders occasionally. Please use this Order Form.
Or see the Class B Coordinator, Mrs. Abell for more details.
Class A’s
In Fall 2008, the BSA officially shifted to a new Class A uniform. The new uniforms are to celebrate Scouting’s Centennial and have some significant advantages over the old uniforms (which were adopted when Mr. Coleman was a Scout). It will be immediately obvious that the new Centennial Uniforms include green-based patches (rather than red) and green epulets. You can find details on the new BSA Centennial Boy Scout Uniforms at this link.
Staff Patrol Uniforms
Scouts that are appointed to one of the key troop leadership roles (SPL, Asst SPL, Troop Guide or Troop Instructor) are asked to join Troop 16’s Staff Patrol are provided leather epaulettes to wear on the standard tan shirt. The rest of their uniform has no change..
The Dark Green uniform was standard for many years (1972-1989) as the mark of the Leadership Corps in Scouting nationwide. In the early nineties, the green shirt was adopted by the Explorer program and later by the Venturing program.
For the past couple of years, Troop 16’s Staff Patrol have worn this same green shirt, and some will continue to do so until they age out.
There was no update to the Dark Green shirt for the Centennial.
