Life to Eagle

Posted by thesanty4@msn.com on January 3, 2010

If you are a Life Scout in Troop 16 and are ready to make that commitment to join with those Boy Scouts who have achieved Scouting’s highest honor, the Eagle Scout, we salute you.  Know that the adult leaders of Troop 16, and every Eagle Scout who has come before you, stands ready to help you achieve your goals.  However, the rank of Eagle Scout doesn’t belong to your leaders or your parents — it is yours and yours alone to make happen — or not.  It is a huge commitment, but one that each Life Scout can be successful at if you put your mind to it.  Becoming an Eagle does require sacrifices and choices at each step of the journey, but remember the prize at the end — the chance to have Eagle Scout come after your name for the rest of your life because once-an-Eagle, always-an-Eagle.

If you are ready to move forward, the materials on this page of will get you started and will be useful throughout your journey to Eagle Scout.  Check back often for the latest updates.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

1. Communication is key – Scout, Parents, Eagle Advisors, Organization, Troop & Community

2. Make your project the culmination of your Eagle experience

3. YOU are representing Troop 16 and all of Boy Scouts every time you are in public with the organization, fundraising, etc., during your project – think seriously about the ramifications to BSA and the future of the Eagle Movement if you don’t meet up to the expectations.

4. Keep a detailed journal (with hours log) as soon as you begin thinking about a project – write down everything

5. Being a troop leader doesn’t just mean holding a position – anyone can have a title

6. Don’t wait too long – most Eagle projects take 6-9 months

7. Don’t forget Duty to God

8. Always do the right thing – even when no one is looking. Becoming a man of character isn’t easy

9. No question is silly – ask for help or advice – we are here for you
