January Camp 2014 – Snow Mountain Ranch

Description:

This month’s campout is the Polar Bear Challenge at Snow Mountain Ranch.  Snow Mountain Ranch is operated by YMCA of the Rockies and is located in Fraser, Colorado.  We will be camping outside and using their facilities during the day.  The goal of this campout is to earn the Polar Bear award, which requires camping in temperatures below zero degrees fahrenheit.

Sign Up Deadline?

Tuesday December 31, 2013 at midnight, no exceptions.

When?

Friday January 10th through January 12th.We will leave from PUMC at 4:00 PM on Friday the 10th and will return around 12:00 PM on Sunday the 12th.

Where?

Snow Mountain Ranch, Fraser, Colorado

Who is in charge?

Mr. See is the Camp Host.

Cost?

$28 camp fee per Troop 16 scout or adult camping for the weekend.  This includes the standard camp fee of $18 and $10 to cover a portion of the fee from Snow Mountain Ranch.  The Troop Committee voted to cover the remaining portion due to Snow Mountain Ranch.

What to bring?

This will be a campout with the troop trailer and full patrol kitchens. Bring gear and clothing appropriate for any weather conditions, including your 10 essentials.  Fraser is the coldest location in the State of Colorado, plan accordingly!!!  Last year the mercury dropped to 27 degrees below zero!!!  Lets hope it doesn’t get that cold this year!!!  Historical average lows are just below zero.

Special Requirements:

A current  Med Form with parts A, B & C completed is required for all who are in attendance for camping.  This form requires a physicians signature.

Colorado weather in January will be cold.  Be prepared for extreme cold temperatures with snow.

All adults attending must be registered and able to show current YPT Training.
